Bengali Choti Comics represent a specific sub-genre of adult-oriented illustrated publications in the Bengali language. To understand them, one must first understand the term Choti (also spelled Chodti or Chuda ). In Bengali colloquialism, Choti refers to sexually explicit or erotic content, primarily in written or narrative form. When combined with "comics," it refers to a fusion of graphic art and adult storytelling. Origins and Context The Choti genre has a long history in Bengali pulp literature, existing for decades in the form of small, cheaply printed booklets and magazines. Before the digital age, these were sold discreetly at roadside bookstalls, railway stations, and in specific markets across West Bengal (India) and Bangladesh.
