In the Season 1 finale, Sam and Jay stumble upon a long-forgotten prohibition-era vault hidden in the basement of the Woodstone B&B. Inside, they find the preserved body of a mobster named “Crash” Moretti — who also happens to be a ghost, now stuck in a loop of trying to find his missing head. Meanwhile, Hetty is forced to confront a deeply buried secret from her Gilded Age past involving the very same vault, leading to a cascade of revelations that changes the ghostly household hierarchy. Above ground, Trevor accidentally possesses Jay’s laptop and tries to make a risky crypto trade, while Sasappis narrates the episode’s events as a noir-style detective story for his own amusement.
