A political rally is underway. On a raised platform sits Thakur Surya Pratap Singh , the village’s dominant landlord, draped in a starched white kurta. The uncle fumes. Thakur Surya Pratap watches from across the room, his jaw tight. Later, in his private chamber, he tells Vikram: “That woman has no fear.
