Baby Coco’s eyes turned deep violet. Her mouth opened, and instead of a cry, she emitted a high-frequency harmonic that vibrated the iron in the enforcer’s cybernetics. The hunter seized, joints locking, then collapsed like a puppet with cut strings.
He pressed a button on the sling. Coco emitted a second harmonic—this one a sweet, sleepy melody. The hunter’s grin faltered. Her eyes grew heavy. She yawned, swayed, and slumped against a rusted vat, fast asleep.
“You like that, huh?” Kai panted, limping toward a hidden transport pod. “You’re not just a baby. You’re a weapon and a lullaby.”
