720p offers a lower cognitive load. It’s the visual equivalent of an acoustic version of a pop song. The bones are there. The hooks work. But you don’t have to tense up to process it. You can put on a 720p rip of Law & Order: SVU and actually fold your laundry. You can let King of the Hill play at 720p and fall asleep without the sudden brightness of an HDR explosion jolting you awake.
