Last night, I booted the cart one last time. The main menu had changed. Instead of 12 save files, there were 13.
I deleted my original save. I pulled the cart out. I took a hammer to it. The shell cracked. The board split. The battery fell out.
I haven’t opened it.
I did not create it.
I posted about this on a retro gaming forum. Most said it was a hoax. But three users DMed me claiming they also owned “Megathread” carts. We formed a small Discord. megathread gba
The next day, I booted it up. My save file for was gone. Replaced by a new one: u/Please_Help_Me .
A faint, familiar hum.
But I can hear it.
