Realtek — 8723de Wireless Lan 802.11n !!install!!

The IEEE 802.11n standard, introduced in 2009, remains relevant in low-cost consumer devices due to its balance of throughput (up to 150 Mbps per spatial stream) and backward compatibility with 2.4 GHz-only access points. The Realtek RTL8723DE is a PCIe interface chip found in HP laptops (e.g., Pavilion, 15 series) and Lenovo IdeaPad models. This paper evaluates its design choices and practical deployment issues.

Abstract: The Realtek RTL8723DE is a combined Wireless LAN (WLAN) and Bluetooth 4.2 single-chip solution, widely deployed in budget to mid-range laptops from 2017–2020. This paper analyzes its technical specifications, focusing on its 802.11n 1x1 Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) architecture, real-world throughput, power consumption, and notable driver challenges—particularly within the Linux ecosystem. Findings indicate that while adequate for basic web browsing and legacy networking, the adapter’s lack of 802.11ac support and proprietary driver requirements create significant usability and security limitations. realtek 8723de wireless lan 802.11n
