Alex turns on Wilford at the last second, disabling his override. But the damage is done—the lead car is heading for a concrete pillar. Ruth manually uncouples the Engine from the main train, driving it solo into the debris to act as a battering ram. She survives (barely), but the Engine is wrecked.
