Arnold was a tidy man. He liked his desktop icons in a grid, his cables velcroed, and his hard drive free of digital cobwebs. So, when he spotted the AnyDesk icon—a leftover from a long-dead freelance gig helping his mother-in-law fix her printer—he decided it was time for it to go.
Arnold smiled. Cleanliness. He restarted his PC.
He spun to his monitor. The AnyDesk window was now open on its own. In the chat panel, a message was being typed letter by letter: uninstall anydesk
The progress bar filled. “Success!” the wizard chirped.
Arnold hung up. Then he heard a soft click from his brand-new, never-connected laptop. Arnold was a tidy man
“Simple,” he muttered, opening the Control Panel. He clicked Uninstall .
Arnold’s blood chilled. He hadn’t touched her printer in six months. Arnold smiled
“Odd,” Arnold said. He tried a dedicated uninstaller tool. It found traces—registry keys, hidden folders in AppData , a lone driver file in System32 . He deleted them all, purged the Recycle Bin, and ran a cleaner.
